Who carries out electrical measurements on a container ship in Dubai?
This is Christian Quell. He is a partner at EundA Elektrotechnik and manages our test field. In his job as Head of Testfield, everything actually comes together.
He coordinates electrical tests and test runs. He interprets complex measurement results and advises customers on repairs. Working at a desk is part of the job. But you will also often find him directly at the machine or at the customer's site. For him, it is precisely this mix that makes the job exciting.
His coolest mission so far? Definitely Dubai 🏜️
There he measured the generators on a huge container ship.
The summer heat was a real challenge. But the impressions of the city were absolutely amazing.
When he's not working for EundA, he spends time with his family. He enjoys being outdoors in nature, whether by the sea or in the mountains. Fishing has also been a great passion of his for many years 🎣

Waiting costs money. Our warehouse saves it 📦
An empty shelf is rare for us. In our spare parts warehouse in Bremerhaven, we keep over 7,000 components for engines and generators in stock.
Why do we need so much space for spare parts? It's simple: when our customers' machines are down, every hour counts. We don't want to have to wait days for a delivery before we can start the repair.
From small ball bearings to special components for huge generators, we have almost everything on site.
For us, this is part of good service. We are prepared to get our customers' systems up and running again as quickly as possible.

Precision down to a hundredth of a millimetre ⚙️
The picture shows the collector of a DC machine being reworked.
A collector has an important task: it transmits the current to the rotating part of the DC machine. Over time, however, they wear out or become scored.
If the surface is no longer perfect, the wear on the carbon brushes increases significantly. This results in increased exposure to conductive carbon dust, which significantly reduces the service life of the DC machine and, in the worst case, leads to an unplanned failure with very high downtime and repair costs.
That's why we turn the collector perfectly round again in our workshop, saw out the approx. 1 mm thick insulation layer between the slats and deburr each individual slat by hand. In this way, we ensure that the electricity flows cleanly again and the machine runs reliably.
Targeted reworking is often much quicker and cheaper than replacing entire components. This is real craftsmanship that pays off for our customers.

This is what it looks like when we make an engine for an anchor winch fit again ⚓️
Nothing works at sea without the anchor winch drive. It ensures that the anchor is raised and the ship is safely moored in the hawsers. A failure here is more than just annoying, it paralyses the entire operation.
We are currently giving this motor a second life in our workshop. The old stator winding was defective and had to be completely removed.
In the pictures you can see the „insertion“. We manufacture each individual coil from enamelled copper wire and insert it into the motor by hand. This requires absolute precision and years of experience. One wrong move and the entire circuit won't fit in the end.
After shifting gears, the engine is technically as good as new and ready for tough continuous use at sea 💪

A look inside our training workshop 👀
We are currently working on the basics here. Before our trainees are allowed to work on the large systems, they have to understand how the controls work on a small scale.
The picture shows a circuit being built. This will later be the brain for the machines that we repair or build.
At EundA we train in two directions: Electronics technicians for machine and drive technology and for operating technology. That sounds similar at first, but it covers everything - from fine electronics to rough mechanics.
What's particularly cool about the mechanical engineering branch is that you still learn how to make windings for motors yourself. This is real specialised knowledge that hardly anyone masters today 💪
Those who learn here become all-rounders.
