Construction site update: The hall is up! 💥
Do you remember the foundations from the last video? A few drone flights later, the shell of the building is complete, and Eike takes you on another flight over the rooftops of Bremerhaven.
The façade is now being sealed off. After that, it’s time to move everything in, free up space in the workshop and make room for new projects. We’re stepping it up a gear and are ready for the next chapter.

What happens if the manufacturer of your generator suddenly goes out of business? 🤔
That is exactly what has happened with the generators manufactured by AEM. AEM is insolvent. And that is a problem, because these machines have been installed in many places and are still in operation in numerous businesses to this day.
But: Who’s going to take care of the maintenance now? Who has the expertise to carry out an overhaul? And where will the spare parts come from?
That’s where we come in.
Our managing director, Carsten Gernhoff, and our colleague, Manja Engelke, are standing here in front of just such an AEM generator. Here at EundA, we operate on a manufacturer-independent basis. This means that we service, overhaul and repair all types of electrical machinery, regardless of the make.
If the original manufacturer is no longer able to supply parts, we manufacture the components ourselves, rewind the coils and ensure that the machine is once again in perfect working order.

A completely new winding for this pitch motor ⚡
What you can see here is the stator of a DC motor. The old winding had reached the end of its life and had to be completely removed.
In a nutshell: pitch motors adjust the blade angle on wind turbines. There is one per blade, so three per turbine. If even just one of them fails, the entire aerodynamics are thrown off.
We’ve already shown you these motors in our post on pitch drives.
We have completely rebuilt the winding. The stator will then be refitted into the housing, and the motor will be ready for its next deployment at sea.
Repair instead of throwing away. So that the energy transition doesn’t grind to a halt 💪

This is what a coil looks like before it disappears into the motor. ⚙️
What is on the table here is a single moulded coil. Made from flat copper profile and carefully wrapped in insulating material.
This coil is later inserted into the stator of a motor together with many others and wired up. There it ensures that the current generates the magnetic field that drives the motor.
Sounds simple, but it's not. Each coil must be precisely moulded and insulated so that it fits exactly into the groove. Specialised machines are needed to manufacture and press them into the exact shape. That's why we have these precision parts manufactured.
Our specialised knowledge at EundA then comes into play during installation. In our workshop in Bremerhaven, the moulded coils are installed and wired by hand. This is real craftsmanship that hardly anyone still masters today 💪

This machine is older than most of us in the company. ⚙️
And it's still running. Or rather: It will run again.
What you see here is the drive of a pump that delivers 15 cubic metres of water per second. Per second. This drains entire wet areas, wetlands and forests.
When a machine like this breaks down, the level rises. Nobody waits weeks for a replacement.
This is precisely why it is now in Bremerhaven for a complete overhaul. We dismantle the drive down to the last component, check it, repair it and rebuild it so that it is technically on a par with a new machine.

This is Manja. Trained agricultural and construction machinery mechatronics technician, 24 years old and has been with EundA in Bremerhaven since this year.
She is the only woman in our technical team. And that's not an issue for her, because what counts here is what you can do. Not who you are.
Manja knew early on that she belonged in the trades. Even at school, she did every internship in technical companies. Today, she works in our workshop on ship generators and gensets.
